Question: Credit Card not approved by Wells Fargo?

I have a home loan with Wells Fargo for over a year now and I have been paying the mortgage on time.
Recently after refinancing - I was suggested to go for a credit card from wells fargo which would benefit me as a home owner.
I approved - and have a good Credit Score. I was not approved with a reason 'Not a permanent US resident' - what bothers me is........... why this reason? When I have a loan and I pay on time............. why this?
Any advice?

Answer: Probably because their is nothing to stop you from going on a shopping spree and leaving. You have no social for them to report on. A house you cannot take with you, so that's why you don't need a social to buy one.
