Credit Score Check Uk

Question: How to build credit when I have none.?
I am a 24 year old originally from the UK. I now have permanent residence in the US. I have no Credit Score, therefore I can't get a credit card, a mortgage, finance anything! It's a catch 22 because I need credit to finance things and financing things will give me credit. I just want to know what I can do to build up my Credit Score. I am a college grad and I have been employed for 8 months in a very steady job. I have a a checking account where my wages go in.Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Answer: First off, you can get a secured credit card and use it to make small purchases, and then faithfully pay on time. Or you can try to get someone to co-sign a loan with you. You would need to make the payments, though, for the loan to count as a plus on your Credit Score.
Most creditors don't consider being employed for 8 months to be a very long period of time, especially if you're 24. I mean, when my daughter turned 17, she had been employed for 11 months! Granted, it was just part time, but my point is that you don't have a long work history. You also need to be making enough money to be able to pay back any loans or bills that you run up.
