Free Credit Report
How do I obtain a free credit
report?
You can obtain a free credit report once a
year. To obtain a free credit report:
Annual Credit Report Request
Service
P.O. Box 105283
Atlanta, GA 30348-5283
Free credit report from the three major
reporting credit agencies
You can obtain one free report from each of
the three main reporting agencies once every twelve months. The
free credit report contains the same information as the
purchased reports, but does not contain your credit score.
It may make sense to space out your requests
for the credit reports from the three different credit
reporting companies. For example, get the Experian credit
report now and order the Equifax credit report in three or
four months, so that you can monitor your credit report in an
ongoing way.
If you want to obtain more credit
reports
You can obtain additional
credit reports from the credit reporting agencies by
phone, mail, or online. Additional credit reports are not
free. When you request your credit report you will only
receive your own credit report. If your spouse would like a
credit report, he or she must request it separately. You are
not authorized to obtain your spouse’s credit report. If either
of you are experiencing credit problems, you should obtain
credit reports for both of you so that you can correct all
credit errors.
Free credit report if you have been denied
credit
If you have been denied credit, employment,
rental housing, or insurance based on your credit report, you
can obtain a free credit report from each credit reporting
agency within sixty days of the denial of credit.
