Ways to Repair Credit
There are three main ways to repair your
credit and improve your credit score.
The first way to repair your credit is to
do it yourself.
Self credit repair is of course the cheapest
route to credit repair. You can read books on credit repair and
follow steps laid out in those books to try to improve your
credit score yourself. For most people, understanding how the
credit system works, how to read credit reports, and how to
deal with credit bureaus can be very challenging.
Pros: Cheap.
Cons: A lot to learn,
can take very long get any results. Most of the time,
maximum results are not achieved.
The second way is to have credit repair
professionals analyse your credit report and identify ways to
improve your credit score.
There are many credit repair services that
offer (usually at a low price such as $200 - $300) credit
analysis of your credit report. These credit repair services
will not work on removing delinquencies on your credit report
for you.
What they do is give you a list of things
you have to do in order to improve your credit score. Some of
these credit repair services will even offer various ways to
make your credit healthier, resulting in a higher credit
score.
For example, if your debt to income ratio is
very high, your credit score can be artificially increased by
obtaining another line of credit. Some credit repair agencies
will give you access to this line of credit solely for the
purpose of improving your credit score. In another word,
you will not really have access to the money and won't be able
to use it. It will only seem real on your credit report.
