Question: What is the highest Credit Score possible?

I just checked my Credit Score through TransUnion - one of the 3 major credit reporting agencies - and it was 932!! (It was listed as an A grade Credit Score.) Last year it was 817. Have they changed the credit scores - I thought the highest possible was 850 - did it change to 1000?
It looks like there are a couple different types of scores. TransUnion seems to use Vantage I believe. I wish they used FICO, but if my score is good with them (and I went directly to their site so no scam here), I'll assume my FICO Score is good too.

Answer: You got suckered and got one of the BS scores from the credit bureaus.

The only score that counts is the FICO Score, and that tops out at 850.

I believe the TU score tops out at 950 or 975, so that would be a good score.

ADDED: It's not that the Vantage score is a scam. It's just worthless. Lenders want to see your FICO Score. The credit bureaus have gotten tired of missing out on the good money supplying credit scores, so they've created their own models and are trying to get lenders to use them, but it's been a tough sell. FICO is still the score everyone uses.

Question: Air Force. How hard is to join Air Force?

I am 27 yrs old, 93 college credit. But want to join Air force before i finish school..

1. How hard is it to join Air force with a AFQT score of 61 and GT 111

2. If i pick 6 yr contract, will i start off as E3 after boot camp?

3. I like to be deployed to other country such as, Japan , Korea or Germany. What are my chances to picking my base station??

Answer: 3. You'll get a chance in basic training to create a "dream sheet"--base of preferences. You'll be able to update this list at anytime, as many times that you want, once you get to your permanment duty station, which happens after tech (technical school) (which is after basic training).

2. If you're going to school, then you might not need to sign a 6yr contract to get your E-3 status. If you have at least 45 (I believe) semester hours from an accredited college you can start as an E-3. (That's what I did.)

1. It isn't hard to join any service, but the Air Force is the most stringent. You need to talk to an Air Force recruiter. Just call, because he/she will ask you some preliminary questions. Those questions will determine if you are qualified (or not) to continue. Oh, and you shouldn't have to worry too much with those scores.

Last time I was a recruiter these were the minimum requirements (you may want to do it soon):
You need to be between the ages of 17-27 (possible age waiver).
Have no more than two dependents.
Pass the ASVAB test with a minimum AFQT Score of 36.

If you're close to a bachelor's degree, you might want to try for commissioning (as an officer).

Credit Score Evaluation

Question: Pre-qualified a mortgage with a bank?

Some people told me I should go to a bank and find out how much of mortgage that I can afford. How does this work, and I don't want them to run my credit yet, because I know it will hurt my Credit Score. This should be just an evaluation by the bank without running a Credit Report right? And this doesn't mean that I am going with the particular bank, right? I can still shop around. Thanks!
Thanks for the first two fast respond. I do have recent Credit Report that I order within last couple months that I can show them. I think that would be very helpful to them along with my income, debts, and assets. Thanks! =)

Answer: You can have a realtor or loan officer give you a quick estimate of what you can qualify for based on your income and what you tell them about your credit.
Many will tell you that they cannot give you an accurate estimate without taking a look at your Credit Report, which is true, but they can give you an idea of what a monthly payment will be.

The reason they may tell you this is because, if you are serious about qualifying for a loan, a check of your FICO Score is absolutely necessary. But in your case, an estimate of how much you can qualify for does not mean that they have to run your credit, unless you give them permission, and if they do agree to give you an estimate, you are not tied in to that particular company.
