Question: If I shop around for a home loan, will my Credit Score get lower?

Every time I get a quote from a mortgate lender, my Credit Report shows that the lender accessed my credit history.

Answer: well if you are having inquiries in a very close range then you will be fine because the bureau will score it as 1 inquiry and other lenders will see and know that you are shopping around for a home loan...you'll be fine....

Question: Where exactly can you check your Credit Score for FREE?

All of the ligitimate sources I have looked at have a sign up scam running. You must sign up for credit protection plans or the like before you can get your free score. You must give them your credit card number for your free trial that by the way is difficult to get "unsubscribed" to. I thought the law said you could get a free Credit Score yearly. Where do I do this?

Answer: You can only get your Credit Report for free, not your score.
Under the FACT Act, you're allowed one free report per bureau, once every 12 months.
To get your free reports, go to AnnualCreditReport.com. ACR is the only government approved website to receive your free reports; no credit card or registration for credit monitoring services required.
Once you receive your free report, you can order your score on the website for a small fee.

Question: Cheapest safe site to buy FICO Score?

What is the cheapest and safest site to buy my FICO Score? I am NOT looking for a Credit Report. Please don't tell me about those 3 free credit reports because those DO NOT include a FICO Score.
myfico it is! thanks!

Answer: Equifax will sell you your FICO Score for about $8. But it is only your score for Equifax. If you want your FICO for all three credit bureaus, go to MyFico.com. It won't be the cheapest, but it is the ONLY place where you get real, up-to-date FICO.

Most third party monitoring services give you Fakko scores -- they use their own formula. Experian and TransUnion will sell you Vantage scores which is a different scale (max 990 vs FICO's 850).

If you just want some idea of what your score might be, Creditkarma.com is free. This is a score estimator and is probably better than Fakko and Vantage.
